Massage chair features rely on the back rollers to provide the user with a wide range of effective massage therapies.  The rollers are used to create different movements.  Each of these movements creates a different type of massage action.  The roller designs use 2, 4 and 6 wheels to deliver different massages.  Most manufactures opt for wheels on the rollers.  The rollers may be powered by 1 or 2 motors.  These motors must have sufficient torque to provide consistent massage.  The motors use belts to transfer the power to the rollers.

The rollers produce a variety of different massage actions to give you deep or superficial relief.  Many massage chair feature rollers that can give kneading massage and tapping.  Kneading massage is a side to side motion which is similar to the action of squeezing dough.  Tapping provides for a rapid chopping action with the number of beats between 60 to 180 per minute.

Some rollers can provide more extention and in some cases can reach on the top of the shoulders.  Many manufacturers study the movement of the hand and wrist to develop technologies to duplicate these movements.  The technology continues to evolve at a rapid pace.  The addition of powerful software programs gives manufacturers tremendous control over the actions to deliver consistent and reliable massage treatments everytime.  The features of massage chairs and especially the rollers is contantly evolving.
